I have noticed that oftentimes I do not focus closely when I am at home, in my most comfortable state of being. I forget that even the space I am most familiar with can provide visual stimulus time and time again. I challenge myself to take photographs in my home and pay attention at all times. My relationship with my dwelling has deep influence upon how I relate to everything outside its walls. I notice similarities in feeling and form from the inside to the outside. I am interested in photographing the unadorned subjects of the everyday.

BEING HERE is a series of photographs that appreciates the more simple, quiet moments in life. These are the moments I find most soothing and beautiful. The images form a response to the time spent with a particular place while paying attention to all of its minute details and imperfections, easily overlooked or underestimated. Through subtle tones of color and peaceful compositions, each image becomes a meditation on the art of seeing.
